Auburn Group Inspires the Next Generation at South Essex College Freshers Fair

Auburn Group was delighted to attend the Freshers Fair at Thurrock College yesterday afternoon, hosted by South Essex College of Further and Higher Education, where our team had the opportunity to connect with students and share an insight into the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available within the construction industry.

For many young people, construction may traditionally be associated with roles on site, but the industry offers so much more. From health and safety, surveying and commercial positions to administration, project management and skilled trades, there are countless pathways for individuals with a wide range of interests, skills and ambitions.

Exploring careers beyond the traditional view of construction

Events such as the Freshers Fair provide an invaluable opportunity to challenge perceptions, introduce students to the breadth of the sector and demonstrate the many different routes into a career in construction.

Representing Auburn Group, our Site Manager Lauren O’Dell, Site Supervisor Ben Darby and Marketing Manager Deb Ellis spent the afternoon speaking with students about their aspirations, answering questions and discussing what a career in construction can look like.

Whether students are interested in working directly on site, managing projects, working with numbers, ensuring health and safety standards are met, or supporting the wider business, there are opportunities to suit a variety of interests and career goals.

Investing in the future workforce

At Auburn Group, we believe that engaging with the next generation is an important part of building a strong and sustainable future for our industry.

By meeting young people early in their career journey, we can help them understand the opportunities available, provide a more realistic insight into life within the construction sector and encourage them to consider careers they may not have previously explored.

We are proud to support initiatives that encourage, inspire and invest in the future workforce, and it was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and curiosity from the students at Thurrock College.

A huge thank you to South Essex College Group for inviting us to be part of the Freshers Fair. We look forward to continuing to work with the college, engaging with students and supporting the next generation as they take their first steps towards their future careers.
