Auburn Group On-site at the Cliffs Pavilion, Southend on sea.

At Auburn Group, we believe that investing in young people is essential to the future success of our industry. That's why we were delighted to welcome Isabelle, a student from St Thomas More High School in Southend, for a week of work experience with our team.

Providing meaningful work experience opportunities is an important part of our commitment to creating social value and helping young people gain a better understanding of the diverse career paths available within the construction sector.

Gaining Real-World Construction Experience

During her placement, Isabelle spent time at our Cliffs Pavilion project, where she was introduced to several key disciplines that contribute to the successful delivery of construction projects.

Working alongside our experienced professionals, she gained valuable insight into:

  • Quantity surveying and project cost management

  • Site management and day-to-day project operations

  • Health and safety procedures and best practice

  • The collaborative nature of construction project delivery

The experience provided Isabelle with a first hand look at the technical expertise, teamwork and problem-solving skills that underpin the construction industry.

Building Confidence for the Future

Throughout the week, Isabelle demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity and a genuine interest in learning more about the sector. It was particularly rewarding to hear that the placement strengthened her ambitions for a future career in construction.

"This week has really opened my eyes to the variety of roles in construction – I'm even more excited about my future now."

– Isabelle, Work Experience Student

Experiences like these play a crucial role in helping young people make informed decisions about their future careers while building confidence and developing valuable workplace skills.

Supporting Future Industry Talent

The construction industry offers a wide range of opportunities beyond what many people initially expect. From surveying and project management to design, engineering and health and safety, there are countless pathways for young people to explore.

By opening our doors to students, we hope to showcase the breadth of opportunities available and inspire the next generation of professionals to consider a career in construction.

We are particularly proud to support young women entering the industry and to encourage greater diversity across the sector. Isabelle represents the future of construction—a generation that will bring fresh perspectives, innovation and leadership to our industry.

Creating Lasting Social Value

As part of our ongoing social value commitments, Auburn Group remains dedicated to supporting local communities through education, skills development and employment opportunities.

Work experience placements provide a valuable bridge between education and industry, helping students understand the realities of the workplace while giving them the confidence to pursue their ambitions.

We would like to thank Isabelle for her enthusiasm and positive contribution throughout the week. We wish her every success in her future studies and career and look forward to seeing where her journey takes her next.

The future of construction is bright, and it's inspiring to see talented young people ready to help shape it.
