Supporting Young People on Their Journey into Education, Employment and Training

Auburn Group was proud to attend Southend City Council's Interactive Careers Day at the Southend Civic Centre, where we had the pleasure of connecting with young people, parents, carers, educators and local professionals to discuss the wide range of education, employment and training opportunities available across the region.

The event brought together organisations dedicated to supporting young people as they explore their future pathways, providing a valuable opportunity to access expert careers guidance, discover local support services and build confidence in making informed decisions about education and employment.

Promoting Inclusive Careers Guidance and SEND Support

Throughout the day, the Auburn Group team welcomed visitors to our stand to discuss the personalised support, learning opportunities and progression routes we offer. From employability skills and training programmes to education pathways and personal development, our conversations focused on helping young people identify the right opportunities to achieve their goals.

We were encouraged by the number of meaningful discussions we had with attendees who were seeking advice on their next steps. Whether they were preparing for further education, considering vocational training or exploring future employment options, it was inspiring to see so many young people actively planning for their future.

Who the Interactive Careers Day Supports

Southend City Council's Interactive Careers Day was designed to support a wide range of young people, including:

  • Young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

  • Looked After Children (LAC)

  • Students in Years 8–10 receiving SEN Support

  • Electively Home Educated (EHE) young people in Years 8–10

  • Young people aged 16–19 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET)

By creating an inclusive environment, the event ensured that attendees could access tailored information, specialist advice and practical guidance to help them navigate their future education, training and career options.

The Importance of Community Careers Events

Events such as the Interactive Careers Day play a vital role in connecting young people and their families with local education providers, employers, training organisations and specialist support services. Bringing these organisations together in one place makes it easier for attendees to explore the opportunities available within their community while receiving trusted advice from experienced professionals.

These events also encourage collaboration between organisations that share a common goal: helping young people build confidence, develop essential life and employability skills, and successfully transition into education, training or meaningful employment.

Building Connections That Make a Difference

One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was meeting so many enthusiastic young people who were eager to learn more about their future opportunities. We also enjoyed speaking with parents, carers and professionals who play such an important role in supporting young people throughout their educational and career journeys.

The conversations we had throughout the event reinforced the importance of personalised guidance, partnership working and creating accessible opportunities for every young person, regardless of their background or individual needs.

Thank You to Southend City Council

We would like to extend our thanks to Southend City Council for organising such a well-planned and impactful event. Interactive Careers Day provided an excellent platform for organisations to work together, share expertise and help young people access the information and support they need to make confident decisions about their futures.
