Auburn Group Welcomes Technical Youth Company for Behind-the-Scenes Tour at Southend Theatres
Deb Ellis (Marketing Manger) and Emma Burch (Accounts and Admin Assistant) at St Bernard’s High School Careers Fair
At Auburn Group, we are committed to supporting young people as they explore future career opportunities and gain valuable insight into a range of industries. Recently, we were delighted to welcome members of the Technical Youth Company to Southend Theatres for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the ongoing refurbishment project.
The visit provided an exciting opportunity for young people to experience firsthand the transformation taking place at one of Southend's most iconic venues while learning more about the skills, expertise and teamwork required to deliver a complex refurbishment project.
Providing Valuable Industry Insight
Throughout the evening, members of the Auburn Group team guided the group around the site, offering a unique glimpse into the refurbishment works currently underway.
The tour highlighted the wide range of disciplines involved in delivering a live venue refurbishment, from project management and site operations to specialist technical and construction expertise. Students were able to ask questions, gain practical insight and learn more about the challenges and rewards of working on projects within the entertainment and built environment sectors.
By sharing their experiences and knowledge, our team helped demonstrate the diverse career pathways available to those interested in both technical theatre and construction-related professions.
Supporting Future Talent Through Technical Youth
The Technical Youth Company plays an important role in supporting young people aged 14 to 19 who are interested in developing skills and exploring opportunities within technical theatre.
The programme provides participants with practical experiences that help build confidence, develop employability skills and create pathways into future careers within the live events and entertainment industry.
Opportunities such as this site visit allow young people to see the industry in action, connecting classroom learning and creative interests with real-world projects and professional environments.
Building Skills and Confidence
One of the most rewarding aspects of the visit was seeing the enthusiasm and engagement shown by the group throughout the evening.
From learning about the refurbishment process to gaining a better understanding of the technical elements involved in live venue operations, participants embraced the opportunity to expand their knowledge and explore potential career paths.
Experiences like these play a vital role in helping young people build confidence, develop both creative and technical skills, and gain valuable exposure to industry professionals and working environments.
Investing in the Next Generation
At Auburn Group, we recognise the importance of inspiring and supporting future talent. By opening our projects to educational groups and industry programmes, we hope to provide meaningful experiences that encourage young people to explore the many opportunities available within construction, technical theatre and the wider built environment sector.
We would like to thank the Technical Youth Company and everyone involved in organising the visit. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and curiosity from the group, and we look forward to supporting similar initiatives in the future.
A huge well done to everyone who helped make the evening such a valuable, informative and engaging experience.
